Derek Minor speaks about his latest release “Reflection” Theme and Creation

American gospel rapper Derek Minor spoke to Christian Hip Hop website, Rapzilla.com about his latest release Reflection, and spoke about some of the concepts, themes, and how it was created.

“The concept of Reflection is, you are made in the image of God, and you have value based off of that,” he explained. “You were made for greatness…you were not an accident. You were not an afterthought for God.”

The rapper feels that this is his best work to date from the production, lyrics, message, and everything.

He also revealed he records about 30 songs for each album and whittles it down from there.

Minor’s message on the album varies from track-to-track. He talks about relationships, God, and even slightly addresses the state of America.

“Our world is fragmented over something as silly as the color of our skin. I definitely talk about it, but that’s not the focal point at all,” he said.

He also spoke about his track with BJ the Chicago Kid, “Until I’m Gone,” and looked back at the artist’s humbleness and eagerness to pray together before shooting the video.
